15/09/2017 - Vanilla Bean

Location: 287 Exhibition Street, Melbourne Victoria 3000

This is a restaurant with a very weird english name and is pretty confused in my opinion. The name sounds like its serving some western food when in fact, its serving up spicy Chinese food. When we entered the restaurant, there was a singer preparing to sing and play the guitar and was singing mandarin and english songs!

We ordered the following food items:

a) Pumpkin Cake
b) Red Chilli Ox Tongue
c) Saury (Fish)
d) Mini Chicken Soup Noodles
e) BBQ Lamb Kidney (very very small)
f) BBQ Cauliflower
g) Sichuan Syle Chicken
h) Pint of Beer from 4 Pines

This pumpkin cake is quite nice and not too sweet.

Ooh la la. Nice and spicy Ox Tongue

Nice but a bit salty fish. Its quite tough to pull off the meat too.
Small small bowl of chicken noodle soup to warm up the soul.

Lamb Kidney which is quite nice and tender (boy i sound evil saying this)

BBQ Cauliflower made in perfection. Not too spicy.
This is quite spicy but nice. There are even some hidden bean sprouts coated with chilli at the bottom which we didn't finish

Damage: 58 AUD which is a decent price considering that we ordered a pint of beer and heaps of food to go along with it. The chicken is quite spicy and it had me dripping sweat after a while. They do accept payment by AMEX and do not charge you extra surcharge fees - which is good if you have AMEX and are trying to earn some points.

12/09/2017 - Massi

Location: 445 Little Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

With the 50% special, the booking was made via dimmi.com.au, so we went ahead the try this restaurant. It looks really posh and high class on the inside but its really quite small in my opinion. They have a happy hour special and do note that the 50% off do not include drinks.

Classy looking card for this place.
You would be asked to hang your coat down at the front of the restaurant. I was kind of lost when I first found this restaurant as it looked more like a fashion shop from the outside.

We ordered the following:

a) Prosecco (Which was rather strong) & Tap Beer (which was quite smooth) for Drinks
b) Calamari for Starters
c) Market Fish
d) Lamb Neck
e) Cannolo for Desserts

Good beer and strong prosecco

Can't go wrong with fried calamari
The fish was a tad too dry for me
The lamb was really soft and the sauce was really good for me.

Yin and Yang Cannalo which was too sweet for me
Damage: This was quite a good price with the 50% offer which still cost us 65 AUD. If not for the offer, I don't think its really worth the price. The place was pretty packed though with a few frequent customers (cos the waiter seems to know their names). I don't think I would go this place for its full price. Do catch this offer before it expires this month.
