27/04/2017 - Hwaro Korean BBQ

Location: 562 Little Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000

We went for a nice BBQ dinner near Melbourne CBD as the weather was pretty cold . We didn't make a reservation but we were quite lucky to get a table on condition that we have to leave by 730pm.

We ordered the thin sliced Wagyu chuck steak, Wine Pork Belly and Kimchi Calamari pancake with 2 rice. We also added some rice wine sake which was pretty good and light (750 ml with 6% alcohol). We didn't want to get drunk!

Check out the pictures below!

The thin sliced wagyu chunk steak and the wine pork belly! So juicy and awesome!

Charcoal bbq! Makes it so stone age but so good!

The ugly kimchi calamari pancake which looks so ugly but is so delicious!
The kettle which has the weak rice wine!
Damage: ~86 AUD! For the bbq experience, it was not too bad!

24/04/2017 - Lavender Hue

Location: 20 Great Alpine Rd, Harrietville VIC 3741

Went for a retreat with my girlfriend who drove all the way up to Bright (HURRAH!) and we went to this awesome place which everyone should visit if they are at Harrietville! It seems to be a one woman show but the scones and tea were awesome. She took quite a while to take our order but the scones and tea were so well worth the wait!

Onto the pictures below!

So pretty isn't it?

Such a small place but it actually overlooks a small river on the right!
We ordered 1 pot of tea for 2 person (The other pot is just hot water). 2 different types of scones. We were also instructed to slice the scone into half and then spread it with jam (ooo awesome strawberry jam) and whipped cream. Oh my goodness. So good! And it goes so well with the tea! We also had a scoop of lavender ice cream which wasn't too strong and was just nice.

It was so yummy that we finished it all!
So pretty and so yummy!
Damage: 19.80 AUD which was so worth it! I would go back again if I have the chance!

15/04/2017 - Pie in the Sky

Location: 43 Olinda-Monbulk Rd, Olinda Victoria 3788

After having brunch and having at good walk at the Sky High Dandenong, we went to this crowded place for brunch. We could hardly squeeze ourselves in but we got a good couple seat outside the cafe where everyone was looking at what we were eating before they got in to get what they saw.

Choose your pies and sides!
Gourmet pies rulessssss!

Beef Burgundy pie with peas and potato mash! I hate peas!!!

Chicken Korma (super awesome) with chips (imo too dry) and salad
Overall it was a good experience but the crowd kept on coming in. It was even crowded when we went past it after a long walk around Olinda. Crazy but good if you can get your hands on those pies.

Damage: -39.05 AUD. They had a 10% extra service charge for public holidays!

15/04/2017 - Sassasfras Cafe

Location: 391 Mount Dandenong Tourist Rd, Sassafras Victoria 3787

We went to this nice cafe after a good drive up to Mount Dandenong. We wanted to go to the infamous Miss Marple's Tearoom but we were there too early so we tried this cafe. It was actually pretty good! See below for our wonderful photos! I especially love the eggs benedict and the salmon stack! The olive oil is really good but the coffees were so so ...

Skinny Cap with chocolate flakes and sweets on the side!

Soy latte with nice big fat foam! I have a sweet too!

The salmon stack hash with the wonderful olive oil and tomato. The cream sucks.

The wonderful eggs benedict! The yoke was oozing out when we cut through it!
Damage: 40 AUD which was totally worth every penny! It filled us up good!

05/04/2017 - The Bank On Collins

Location: 394 Collins Street, Melbourne Victoria 3000

This was a great scoopon offer for a 1 for 1 dinner course with a starter champagne and heaps of food, as you will see below. We were both filled to the brim with the awesome food shown below. It is advisable to book before going to the restaurant and you can do so online / phone.

Awesome view of the restuarant.

Starters was pretty good but the pork belly was way too salty. The bread was quite warm (which was good.) The salad was a good reprieve from the saltiness of the pork belly. The oysters were quite small though. They look like baby oysters!

Salty pork belly
2 small oysters which were quite pathetic in size
Next up were the mains. We ordered the lamb and the steak. The lamb was way too dry and crusty but the medium done fillet steak was really juicy and good. The prawns with the sausage were well balanced too. We also had 2 sides (Onions rings and mashed potato).

Loved the mashed potato. The onion rings was so-so
Crusty dry lamb.

Mushroom sauce and steak were good. Such a nice dish
Last up were the desserts. The panna cotta was jiggly (Which was really nice) but the ganache was way too sweet for my liking.

The strawberry looks so lonely.

Damage: 69 AUD (All hail the power of scoopon! Its basically getting 2 meal sets for 1 meal set price.) A great deal if you ask me. If you are keen, check out this scoopon link (Might expire soon though.)

01/04/2017 - Morris Jones

Location: 163 Chapel St, Windsor VIC 3181

I had a very good lunch this afternoon at Morris Jones at Chapel street and we ordered the 3 meal set with a wine glass each (had the Riesling).

I have been here before and am here again to admire the wonderful naked ladies portraits the great food they serve.

The beef tartar starter was pretty intense. It was beetroot with slightly raw beef slices and makes the whole dish looks pretty bloody. After we finished it, it was a mess of deep red.

Deep red mess. But was a yummy starter

The other starter was the zucchini flower which was delicious as usual. The only thing to complain about this dish is that there isnt enough of it. But well, its only a starter.

Such a beautiful piece of art. But more beetroot!
The mains were up next. The barrumundi was awesome with crispy skin but was a tad too salty for my liking. The sauce was in a test tube so it felt like i was doing some kind of science experiment while i was unloading all of it into the fish. Such satisfaction. :D

oh crispy skin fish.
The other main (12 hour slow cooked lamb shoulder) wasn't so satisfying though. After a few mouthful, I sensed the dryness and it was really tough to finish it all. Those foamy stuff on top of it was kinda fancy and I had no idea what it was ... maybe carrot?

The carrots were nice. Meat- too dry for my liking.
ooooo last 2 desserts were nice. The honeycomb nitrogen ice cream didn't disappoint. But the panna cotta was a bit of cheater cos i didn't see it jiggle :(

Strawberry Pannacotta with no jiggle. :(
Such good theatre to finish off this meal with some good old dry ice effect! Honeycomb was too sweet but well, honey is sweet! :D

Good good theatre. i like!
Damage: 73 aud (each 3 meal set was 49 AUD but we had an entertainment book discount. All hail entertainment book!)
